JUCO CONCLUDES THE 2026 FU JEN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME, PARTICIPANTS AWARDED CERTIFICATES
On 10 July 2026 JUCo has officially concluded the 2026 Student Volunteer Programme organized in collaboration with Fu Jen Catholic University (Taiwan), marking the successful completion of two weeks of intensive learning, intercultural exchange, and international collaboration.
The programme, which ran from 29 June to 10 July 2026, brought together student volunteers from Fu Jen Catholic University and JUCo students in a series of practical and interactive learning sessions. Participants attended daily classes in Computer Applications, and Cultural Exchange, gaining valuable knowledge and practical skills while strengthening intercultural understanding and global perspectives.
The programme concluded with a colourful certificate award ceremony officiated by the Deputy Principal for Academic Affairs (DPAA), Prof. Daniel Mkude, who served as the Guest of Honour. In his remarks, Prof. Mkude congratulated all participants for their dedication and successful completion of the training. He expressed the University's appreciation to the volunteers from Fu Jen Catholic University for their commitment to sharing knowledge, promoting cultural understanding, and strengthening academic cooperation between Tanzania and Taiwan.
Prof. Mkude emphasized that the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the programme, particularly in computer applications and international communication, will continue to benefit students throughout their academic journey and future professional careers. He encouraged participants to remain lifelong learners and to continue building international friendships and collaborations.
As part of the closing ceremony, all students who successfully completed the programme were presented with Certificates of Participation, recognizing their commitment and active involvement throughout the training.
The volunteer programme was coordinated by Dr. Jacek Gorka, Director of Outreach and Internationalization at Jordan University College, whose efforts have played a pivotal role in strengthening the partnership between JUCo and Fu Jen Catholic University. It was through his initiative that the relationship between the two institutions was established in 2019, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Principals of both universities. Since then, the partnership has continued to flourish through academic cooperation, volunteer exchange programmes, staff and student engagement, and the promotion of internationalization at JUCo.
Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Jacek expressed his appreciation to the student volunteers for their dedication, enthusiasm, and willingness to serve the JUCo community. He also thanked the University leadership, academic staff, and students for their continued support in making the programme a success. He noted that the collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to promoting global citizenship, mutual learning, and intercultural dialogue.
This year's programme was implemented under the TANFUNIA You&Me initiative, a programme that symbolizes friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Tanzania and Taiwan. Beyond classroom learning, the initiative provided participants with an opportunity to exchange cultures, share experiences, and build lasting friendships across national boundaries.
The programme was organized in collaboration with the Department of Information Science, under the leadership of Dr. Nolasko Mwinami, Head of the Department, whose department coordinated the Computer Applications training sessions and supported the successful implementation of the programme.
This marked the seventh visit of student volunteers from Fu Jen Catholic University to Jordan University College, reaffirming the strong and enduring partnership between the two institutions. Over the years, the collaboration has produced significant academic outcomes, including staff development opportunities, international exposure for students, and enhanced institutional visibility.
Jordan University College extends its sincere gratitude to Fu Jen Catholic University, the dedicated student volunteers, the organizing committee, and all participants for making the 2026 volunteer programme a remarkable success. The College looks forward to strengthening this valuable partnership and welcoming future volunteer teams as it continues to expand its international engagement and provide transformative learning opportunities for its students.
