Jordan University College(JUCo) hosted a conference for 708 female students preparing to join various universities across Tanzania for undergraduate studies in the 2026/2027 academic year under the sponsorship of CAMFED Tanzania.
The conference took place from 8 to 10 October 2026, aiming to prepare the students for their higher education journey, equip them with knowledge and skills for university life, and empower them to pursue their academic aspirations and future goals.
The event was officially opened by JUCo's Deputy Principal for Planning, Finance and Administration (DPFA), Prof. Ephraim J. Mtengeti. The Guest of Honour was the Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Prof. Raphael Tihelwa Chibunda.
The conference forms part of CAMFED Tanzania's ongoing efforts to expand access to education and empower young women to pursue higher education. Through the programme, 708 female students have received sponsorship to continue their undergraduate studies at various universities across the country in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The event was also held in the lead-up to the International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on 11 October. The day highlights the importance of protecting girls' rights, ending child marriage, and investing in girls' education and development.
JUCo's role in hosting the conference demonstrates the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and development partners in expanding educational opportunities, empowering young women to achieve their ambitions, and contributing to national development.
